Nice looking little fishies you got there, but aren't there any bigger fish to catch in you're region?

No, not at all it's quite hard to get there and when it has rained it is even inpossible to get there, and there are these cows walking there which can be a real pain in the ass somethime.
In all the hours I have been fishing there I only have seen one human:P and it was a man walking it's dog.

Hey guys. First day of fishing season, so me and dad went to the river! I hooked into the largest chub I have EVER caught. It fought like an absolute donkey in the current lol. Was a great fight. The record chub is only something like 9lb, so I am dead chuffed with this one. What's even better is that it was bigger than dad's. Very Happy First one's mine, second is dad's.

Woke up real early yesterday morning for a full day of fishing . It was totally worth it . Managed to get a few good size barramindi and lost the last "unknown" fish which made a mad dash to the other end of the pond even on a really tight drag and mange to shake  the hook off  Sad . Any way here are the pics !!! Jo

Nope. I caught it on 5 maggots on a size 14 hook. 4lb line. I was trotting with a centrepin, which means letting the current take it, and holding back occasionally to let the bait rise.. that's when they hit it.  Smile

Just bread for bait which is unusual for tench. I thought it was a slow carp when I hooked it lol.

Well I am going away camping for a week, hope to get some fishing done too!

See everyone later.  Smile

Yes I use baitcasters.I think they are more durable for casting plugs and for baitfishing for bigger fish. The down side is they take a little more practice to use. Smile

Hi JPS, I'm like Jaybird, I love conventionals. They are all I use. I do(did-before I got back into slingshots in a big way!) a lot of slop fishing (duckweed,Lily pads,Coontail etc.).You need a good stout rod and a strong reel to horse those bass out of those weeds before they go deep on you and get all tangled up in them. I have about 4 or 5 Ambassador 5500-C3's, a few old  Childre Speed spools and for Surf Fishing I like My Ambassador 7000C. In the very early spring right after ice-out,I'll use a spinning reel to pitch very light line and small lures. Other then that,it's all baitcasters with me. I love em! Smile Flatband Smile

a pb carp from my local pond on floating bread!

a pb chub from my local river on floating bread Smile

Have fished my local pond since I was a lad, and never had anything larger that 2 pounds. So chuffed with it Smile. That chub I have seen a few times in the shallows down at the river, but finally got it to take some freelined bread!

Cheers guys, it was 15lb 6oz. Its a wild fish from a big loch I dont like fisherys for trout.
We dont have as much carp fishing up here in Scotland as down south but a 34lb one was taken in my local canal  Shocked
I used to do allot of fly fishing then pike fished for few years then I got the bug for catching the big brown trout we call ferox trout. Some of the big trophy trout you have in the states are cracking Flatband with the big hook jaws.

With the talk of 4lb line I took this trout on 4lb line and a 4'8" featherlight rod. It weighed 12lb and took 45 minutes to land.
